Teddy Bear Hospital Dunedin

Teddy Bear Hospital is excited to announce it is back for its 9th year!! Excited and ready to bring fun filled experiences to the Dunedin Community though both the Weekday Clinics and not just one, but TWO Community Days this year.

Community Day

The idea behind our annual Community Day is to offer all family the chance to bring their young children to experience a session in the healthcare setting.

Each booking allows the child to bring their teddy or soft toy in for a 20 minute consultation with one of the friendly Teddy Doctors.

The teddy will be able to have a health check, receive a prescription to go collect their ‘medication’ (fruit) from the pharmacists, visit and even visit the dentists and nurses too.

We hope that these appointments allow the child to see that visitng the doctors and other health care providers does not have to be frightening, but can even be fun.

    What We Do

During the week the Teddy Bear Clinic is open to Preschools, Kindergartens, Playcentres and Home-Based Childcare Providers to bring groups of children to sessions.

Community Day runs on the Saturday of the same week and is for members of the general public to get involved. The event is designed for children between 3-7, but it is open to any age- particuarly children or siblings in families who have had a hard time with Doctors in the past. We have lots of awesome activities and things to see planned for Community Day, such as St John’s ambulance tours, face painting and health education workshops.

We are strong beleivers that all kids should be able to live a healthy, safe and happy life. While part of this is based in New Zealand, we cant forget the millions of kids throughout the world living in poverty.

This year we will incorportating an awareness and fundraising aspect into the Teddy Bear Hospital for those that dont have the same healthcare opportunities as our children. Watch this space!
